About us

Patricia and Martin are responsible for Casa Serene and their creators.

They both live in Edinburgh, Scotland and spend long periods in Agua Amarga to compensate and bring the contrast from both worlds. Cabo de Gata is one of their favourite places on the planet because of its dramatic and rough beauty and as a contrast with Scotland.

Her blue, turquoise sea, the volcanic landscape, the desert of the Natural Park, the quietness of the place, invites to chill out, relax and enjoy its tranquillity. A place where to ‘charge their batteries’ after the green, fresh and beautiful Scotland. That is why they have called their place Casa Serene; a recognition of their mixed Spanish/English inheritance within an invitation for visitors to embrace her serenity.

Patricia is a social anthropologist, a secondary teacher and has completed a PhD in antiracist education at the University of Edinburgh. Currently, she is shifting her career as a teacher into matters related to social justice in Scotland and Spain. She is initially from Andalucía but feels she is a citizen of the world. Martin is a marine biologist working as managing director in sustainable fishing across the planet. He also understands his identity transcending his Londoner origin, feeling mainly European and a cosmopolitan citizen.

Patricia and Martin have arranged and decorated Casa Serene with multiple personal touches to make their guests feel welcomed within a warm and family atmosphere. It is the ideal space to rest and enjoy the Mediterranean weather.
